
The new sections of the bridge over the Oká River in Serpukhov have already been completed, according to the official website of the Moscow Railway (MZD) on November 30.
“JSC Russian Railways is completing a large-scale project to reconstruct a double-track metal railway bridge over the Oka River in Serpukhov, the largest on the Moscow Railway. The total length of the engineering structure is 550 meters, the height in the navigable part is 21 m. “Railway workers replaced the last section of the structure by the cross-sliding method using special jacks along the rolling tracks.”says the message.
In total, during the restoration of the bridge, which began in 2018, eight large spans with a length of 110 m and a weight of 586 tons, two small ones of 44 m each and four beam structures of 18 m each were replaced.
The structures were assembled at the construction site. The bridge supports were also reinforced and an ice cutter piece was installed. Until December 5, railway workers will lay the tracks and reestablish the network of contacts.
