Taiwan’s National Development Council intends to open an innovation office in Japan in Silicon Valley, United States, its director Kung Mingxin said on December 1, Taiwan News reported.
This will be done to expand Taiwan’s innovation development work and make it more representative. According to the minister, the environment on the island for the development of innovation has changed in the last 10 years from “desert” to “tropical.” The number of companies dedicated to innovation increased from 2,300 to 7,400.
Previously, the council sponsored overseas trips for young entrepreneurs once a year as part of the Taiwan Startup Island project. It now needs permanent missions abroad as part of the Breakthrough project, Kong Mingxin explained.
Let us remember that Taiwan is the world center for the production of semiconductor products. Many international companies depend on the island’s chip supply. Taiwan, in its rhetoric about the need for international assistance to the island in its confrontation with China, constantly reminds us of this.
