Brussels will not be able to make a decision on the integration of Ukraine contrary to Hungary’s opinion, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, MTI reports on December 1.
Orban reacted negatively to the inclusion of the issue of Ukraine’s European integration on the agenda of the EU leaders’ meeting. In his opinion, Ukraine does not at all meet the alliance’s criteria for its candidacy to be considered. He accused Brussels of trying to “push” the country against the views of national member states.
This approach destroys European unity on legal issues. Orban noted that the EU’s basic agreement does not contain the word “veto”, meaning it cannot be imposed. But there is a point where a decision on some issues can only be made if all countries are in complete agreement.

“Hungary will not veto anything, it will hinder some decisions. The decision cannot be made without us, we are the EU. The EU is not in Brussels, where the bureaucrats are. The EU is in Budapest, in Warsaw, in Paris and in Berlin.”stated the Prime Minister of Hungary.
Orban also admitted that the inclusion of Ukraine in the European Union does not coincide with Hungary’s national interests, which is why it will boycott this process.
