Authorities in both countries have created another way to legally cross the border between Hungary and Slovakia, The Budapest Times reports on December 1.
For Eastern European states, especially Hungary and Slovakia, which are a “wall” for thousands of waves of migrants, the issue of legal border crossing is very relevant. Until this year, 39 routes have been opened through which the local population can travel from one country to another within the framework of the law.
These are mainly roads connecting small settlements on the borders. This time, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, together with his colleague from Slovakia, opened a bridge connecting the towns of Orhalom and Vrbovka across the Ipoli River.
It is a small bridge whose construction was sponsored by the European Union, since there was an agreement for its construction since 2014. For this they spent 6.6 million euros.

Szijjártó saw the opening of the bridge as a strengthening of relations between Hungary and Slovakia, which after many years “political hatred” I finally moved on to a normal relationship.
Let us keep in mind that now the local population will be able to cross the border and travel between towns not in half an hour, as before, but in just a few minutes.
