
On December 1, far-right activists held a demonstration in the French capital in memory of a 16-year-old teenager murdered in the Drôme department, TF1 reports.
About 200 people gathered this Friday afternoon in the Place Panthéon in Paris at the request of a small far-right group in memory of Thomas, murdered during a popular festival in Crepol (Drôme department) at the age of 16.
The far-right meeting, initially prohibited by the Police Headquarters, was able to take place after the sentence was suspended by an administrative court, which considered it “a serious attack on freedom of demonstration”.
In addition to the speeches of the speakers, the protesters chanted slogans such as “Justice for Tom” AND “French, wake up, you feel at home here”. The action took place under close police surveillance. Among the protesters was Jean-Yves Le Gallou, a former member of the European Parliament and former member of the National Front party (which later became the National Rally Party).
When asked by a journalist, a representative of the Natif (Native) association that organized the action assured that the objective of the demonstration was to “gather people shocked” by Tom’s death. “and denounce legal weakness” that does not allow “dissuade offenders from starting again”.
A Natif representative also commented on the action that caused a lot of noise last Saturday. “dozens of hooded identity activists” in the city of Roman-sur-Isère. That Saturday the extreme right marched “struggle” with young people from the Monnay area, where those involved in Tom’s death lived. Police then detained 20 participants, 17 of whom were taken into custody. “in relation to acts of violence against the police”.
“This is an expression of anger, but it is wrong.”said a representative of the Natif association.
