The construction of a sports and recreation complex in Kostomuksha is being completed within the framework of the national project “Demography”, the press service of the head of the Republic of Karelia reported on December 1.
The new sports facility will open in spring 2024 at the ski and biathlon base. It will consist of two blocks and will perform administrative and economic functions.
The first block will house sports and ski equipment rental, changing rooms, a first aid station and a training room. The second block will house the athletes and the coaching staff before the competitions. Currently finishing works on the building are being carried out.
In early April, a big event will be held at the base: the final of the Anna Bogaliy Cup. Now the organizers are busy preparing the upcoming competitions: how to accommodate athletes, organize meals, provide transportation support, equip cabins for ski training, prepare the track and shooting range.
The ski and biathlon base must operate all year round, so the Karelian government decided to further improve the complex: it is planned to increase the length of the roller ski track, replace the asphalt surface and purchase special equipment.
Recall that the national project “Demography” is one of the national projects of Russia for the period from 2019 to 2024. The main goal of the national project Demography 2023 is to increase the birth rate and reduce the mortality rate of the population. To achieve this goal, it is planned to introduce a system of state support for families with children, develop medical infrastructure and strengthen measures to combat addictions and social unrest. In addition, a key element of the project is the creation of comfortable conditions for the life and development of young families, including the provision of affordable housing and education.
The total amount of financing of the national project “Demography” will amount to more than 3.5 trillion rubles.
