According to the report, the Israeli Defense Forces announced this Friday the death of six Hamas hostages held in the Gaza Strip since October 7. Times of Israel.
“In recent days, the IDF and police notified the families of Eliyahu Margalit, Mia Goren, Ronen Engel and Aryeh Zalmanovich of their deaths,” says spokesman Daniel Hagari.
Israel announced the deaths of these civilians “based on the collected results and information services” received by a team of experts from the Ministry of Health, the Chief Rabbi and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
“We continue to invest a lot of intelligence and operational efforts to provide information about the conditions of the hostages,” says Daniel Hagary.
This Friday, Kibbutz Nir Oz had already announced the deaths of three residents taken hostage by Hamas on October 7: Aryeh Zalmanovich, 85, the oldest of the 240 hostages, Maya Goren, 56, and Ronen Engel, 54.
Aryeh Zalmanovich was a farmer and before he was kidnapped by Hamas, he sent a message to his son warning him of an attack on the kibbutz.
On the morning of October 7, Mary Goren, a teacher in Nir Oz, was preparing a place for a kindergarten on the kibbutz. Her husband was killed at home by Hamas militants.
Ronen Engel’s wife and two daughters were released this Monday under a temporary ceasefire, 52 days after being taken hostage.
Eliyaha Margalit, 75, was last seen when she went to feed horses in Nir Oz. The daughter, 41-year-old Nili Margalit, was released this Thursday. He spent 55 days in captivity.
Kibbutz Be’eri announced this Friday the death of Ofra Keidar, 70, who had been in captivity since October 7.
“His body is in the hands of Hamas. We demand his return along with other hostages,” the statement said, as quoted by the publication. Times of Israel.
26-year-old Guy Iluz also died, Iluz High School, where Raanana studied, reported on social media.
“We have waited and prayed for weeks for Guy’s return, but today we were informed that he will not be returning,” the Facebook post reads.
The young man was at a music festival in Reim when Hamas attacked the car he was in with his friends and was killed. Guy hid in a tree and it was there that he last spoke with his family.
