Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his hope that private business will become a factor of economic growth, the press service of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) reported on December 2.
Orbán spoke at an event on the occasion of Entrepreneur’s Day and congratulated all the specialists in the field. The president of VOSZ and the president of the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Parra Laszlo, attended the event with him.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that private business can become a factor in improving the economic situation in Hungary and noted that the government will not put obstacles to entrepreneurs. The politician wanted to work closely with businessmen.

“He added that the responsibility and job of political leaders is to coordinate this so that the private success of businessmen becomes the success of the entire country.”– said the press service.
Orban considered it true that businessmen are only interested in making profits; after all, “This is called market and private property”. He only reminded that it is necessary, at least sometimes, to consider economic activity as a contribution to the development of the State. Orban cited the transfer of Budapest airport into private hands as a good example: the government did not have funds to maintain it, but an interested businessman was able to establish himself here.
Orban mentioned four points about how the interests of businessmen relate to the interests of Hungarian society. Firstly, if more private companies open, more jobs will be created; Secondly, taxes are paid for each employee, which the State likes; thirdly, any tax contribution from businessmen will stabilize the economy; Fourthly, if a private company is not run by Hungarians, foreigners start running it and, in that case, the money would leave the country.
