A social media movement is organizing a massive search for Monica Silva, who was no longer seen in Mourtos on October 3. Those searches are scheduled for this Sunday, which marks two months since the disappearance of the woman, who was 33 and seven months pregnant at the time.
A group of volunteers intends to conduct searches in the forest area, between the mouth of Aveiro and the sea, from Torreira to Sao Jacinto, already in Aveiro. After digging to find Monica Silva’s body, several volunteers searched in a pine forest near the site where a strong smell of bleach was discovered, but were unsuccessful. The family guarantees that they will not give up until the body is found.
Fernando Valente, described by the family of the missing woman as her boyfriend and responsible for the pregnancy, was arrested by the Aveiro judicial police and is in pre-trial detention in Aveiro prison. He is suspected of committing qualified murder, concealment and desecration of a corpse, as well as abortion under aggravating circumstances.
