Dozens of people joined this Sunday in the search for Monica Silva, a 33-year-old pregnant woman who disappeared two months ago in Mourtos and is presumed dead. People from different parts of the country searched the Aveiro Ria area. “We sympathize with the family’s pain. We have already promised to go to Fatima if we find the body,” said the volunteer.
During the day, a bag of meat and traces of blood was discovered, which caused certain emotions. Holding her rosary, Filomena Silva, Monica’s aunt, could not hide her excitement at the possibility of finding her niece’s body: “They gave me a knife and I cut the bag. I even thought it might be a body.” GNR was called, set up a security perimeter and concluded it was packaged meat.
Searches are expected to continue this Monday in Ponte da Varela. Monica’s brother, a professional diver, is expected to arrive from Angola.
