The chocolate manufacturer Toblerone this Monday issued a warning for people with an allergy or intolerance to one of the ingredients of its milk chocolate with honey and almonds due to the lack of labeling in Portuguese on some of its batches.
At stake are units of Toblerone Milk 100g with Honey Nougat and Almonds from batches that contain the barcode 7614500010013 and expiration dates between December 8 and 25, 2024 or February 3, 2025, Mondelez International said in a statement, deploring the about this incident. .
According to the company, “there is no Portuguese language labeling on the packaging of units from these batches,” but “the formula and allergen profile are exactly the same as those typically sold under the brand in Portugal.”
“The chocolates strictly comply with the norms and standards of quality and safety, but since they are not labeled in Portuguese, it is not easy to recognize the allergens in the languages they contain,” the statement emphasizes, reinforcing that milk chocolate with honey and almonds is contraindicated for humans with allergies or intolerances to milk, almonds, soy and eggs.
Mondelez International offers a customer service line (number 800 100 951) weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00 for anyone who wishes to return chocolate purchased from affected lots or request further clarification.
