Sixty-three journalists have died since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas militants, according to a tally up to Monday by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
According to the data, 56 journalists were Palestinian, four Israeli and three Lebanese, and 11 journalists were injured, three were missing and 19 were detained.
This death toll is compounded by harassment, arrests and other barriers to information dissemination in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Israel.
The commission recalls that Israeli forces told news agencies that they could not guarantee the safety of journalists working in Gaza, an area where there have been several communications outages.
CPJ clarifies that it cannot guarantee that all the deaths of journalists it refers to occurred while covering the conflict, but nevertheless includes them in its list as long as the investigation it conducts into each case. will not be completed.
Since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, nearly 16,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have died.
