The cost of a barrel of WTI oil for delivery in January 2024 during trading on the NYMEX exchange was $72.3 per barrel, 0.1% less than the closing level of the previous day. Over the previous four days of trading, West Texas oil futures prices had fallen to the July 7 level.
The price of Brent oil futures with a closing date of February 2024 on the ICE London Exchange is $77.3 per barrel, 0.1% higher than the previous day’s closing level.
The fall in oil prices occurs in the context of a tightening of monetary policies by global central banks. Additionally, stock speculators react to reports of an increase in raw materials production in the United States.
