Arctic weather affected several parts of Russia on Tuesday, with temperatures in the Siberian desert reaching minus 58 degrees Celsius.
Located approximately five thousand kilometers from Moscow, the city of Yakutsk is one of the coldest cities in the world. Drone footage shows the area covered in clouds and fog.
A Reuters, one traveler said he came to the city to experience extreme temperatures. “I was lucky because this weather is not usual in December,” said Danila, whose beard, hat and scarf were covered in ice.
The man claims that he is not very cold because he is well prepared. “If I didn’t wear the right clothes, I would freeze in minutes,” he added.
In the Shanka Republic, a vast region located in northeastern Siberia, overnight temperatures reached minus 55 degrees. In Oymyakon, a city in this region, thermometers showed minus 58 degrees.
According to ReutersMeteorologists say the humidity and wind will make it feel like minus 63 degrees.
