On Sunday, a young Portuguese woman died in a fire in London.
According to British news site MyLondon, Sophia Duarte, 21, died in a fire that broke out on New Year’s Eve at a Nigerian restaurant located in the building around 5:00 pm.
Witnesses who witnessed the fire claim that the restaurant burned down completely in about two minutes. They also said they saw a naked man throw himself from a window on the first floor of the building to escape the flames.
40 firefighters were on the scene, supported by six vehicles.
The young woman’s friend stated that Sophia “could have jumped”.
“She was our queen, Sofia loved life,” said a friend of the young Portuguese.
According to MyLondonSophia’s mother only found out about her daughter’s death when a friend called to report that someone had posted a photo on social media with the caption “RIP, Sophia” (RIP, Sophia).
The family tries to raise money for the cremation and give Sophia the “goodbye she deserves”.
