“They killed for a base reason – to avenge an attack in which neither you nor the victim participated – and they prepared everything to carry it out. And then bragging took over the death of a 16-year-old boy, threats and acts of violence, even during Court.” The presiding judge of the panel of the Loures Court, which sentenced the six murderers of Manilson Novais, executed with a shotgun from a moving van in February 2022, thus acquitted this Tuesday the sentence of 16 years’ imprisonment for each of them.
They were all found guilty of qualified murder, attempted murder (in this case of Manilson’s friend, who was wounded but survived) and illegal possession of a weapon. Only the seventh defendant, who was tried for abandoning the weapon, was acquitted, since the fact of the “loan” could not be proven.
In the end, the convicts cried, hugging their mothers, after learning that they would be sent straight from court to prison, as the coercive measure of house arrest was reviewed by the court.
