The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the president of the EU Council, Charles Michel, held a meeting this Thursday with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, in which they agreed to maintain a more balanced trade and economic balance between both parties.
Von der Leyen has described the meeting on social networks as “good and sincere”and has ensured that managing the relations between China and the EU are one of their priorities, which is why they have agreed to “maintain balanced commercial relations.”
“China and the EU have a shared interest in a stable and constructive relationship. The EU will continue to engage with China on the basis of transparency, predictability and reciprocity. We need to make our commercial and economic relationship more balanced and reciprocal,” Michel posted on his X social network account.
Furthermore, he has emphasized the need for peace and stability both for the good of Europe and for the rest of the world.
