A Philippine ship on a resupply mission was rammed by a Chinese coast guard ship on Sunday, Philippine authorities said, while China accused the ship of “deliberately colliding” with a Chinese vessel.
The Chinese ship also “fired a water cannon” at three Philippine ships participating in the resupply mission, causing “serious engine damage” to one of the vessels, West Philippine Sea Coast Guard spokesman Jay Tarriela said in a post posted on social media site X ( formerly Twitter).
Four Philippine ships “illegally entered” the waters of the Spratly Islands, which are claimed by China, according to a statement from the Chinese coast guard.
