Russia is one of the few countries in the world that can legitimately be considered free states, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia stated on December 10 after the grand consecration of the Church of the Sign of the Icon of the Mother of God outside the Petrovsky Gate of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow.
“We must thank the Lord for every day we live, for the fact that we live in a truly free country. I counted only five of those countries, maybe a little more, because all the others are not really free. But we live in a truly free country and we must thank God for all this.”stated the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
According to the patriarch, this fact, as well as the external well-being of life, should not separate Russian citizens from God, but should instill in them a feeling of gratitude for the opportunity to live in a free country.
“We live in a truly free country and we must thank God for all this. Pray for our Fatherland, for our Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, an Orthodox man who is clearly aware of the enormous responsibility entrusted to him from above.”the patriarch pointed out.
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church also asked for prayers for the military who defend the country’s freedom in the zone of special military operation.
