This Sunday, a couple was left homeless after a fire in their house in União das Freguesias de Garvão and Santa Luzia, in the municipality of Ourique (Beja), a civil protection source told the Lusa agency.
A source from the subregional command for emergencies and civil protection of Baixo Alentejo said the alarm was raised at 20:08: a fire broke out in the kitchen and then spread to the room.
A source from the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo also said that the couple was treated on the spot and did not require hospital treatment.
A GNR source told Lusa that the couple, a 78-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, were relocated to a house belonging to the municipality of Ourique.
There were 17 operatives and GNR employees on the scene, supported by seven vehicles.
