The European Union (EU) and Chile have agreed on a program to strengthen political cooperation and promote trade and investment between the community bloc and the South American country, the European Commission said this Wednesday.
In a statement, the community’s chief executive said the agreements signed between the 27 EU members and Chile would “strengthen political cooperation and promote trade and investment.”
“These agreements create an ambitious and modern framework for deepening and expanding relations between the EU and Chile. They will promote economic opportunities for both sides while deepening shared values, including substantive commitments and concrete provisions on human rights, sustainable trade and gender equality,” he added. Through these agreements, Brussels hopes to strengthen supply chains, given the context of geopolitical uncertainty, and access to raw materials. Gathering support and efforts to combat climate change is another of the stated goals.
