A passenger on a Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) plane to Nampula in the north of the country attacked a crew member and had to be detained and the plane returned to Maputo, the company said this Friday.
In a statement sent to Lusa, LAM claims that the incident occurred on flight TM 156 on Thursday, which was aborted 30 minutes after departure from Maputo International Airport, at 17:50 (15:50 in Lisbon).
“The passenger violated operational safety standards, constantly intimidated the passenger and attacked the cabin dispatcher,” the company explains.
He adds that the flight commander “decided to abort the trip to Nampula and return to Maputo.”
“After landing, the passenger of Mozambican nationality of Nigerian origin was taken to the police,” the state airline concludes.
