The Hungarian Prime Minister confirmed this Friday that he vetoed the long-term review of the EU budget, including financial support for Ukraine, which prevented an agreement in the European Council, and called for “adequate preparation” of the negotiations.
“Night Shift Summary: Veto on Additional Money for Ukraine and Veto on MFF Review” [Quadro Financeiro Plurianual]. We will address this issue again in the European Council next year, after appropriate preparations,” Viktor Orbán wrote in a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The first day of the European Council ended in Brussels without agreement on a revision of the EU’s long-term budget, which includes financial support for Ukraine, with a new summit scheduled for early 2024.
