The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) have committed to ending kidnappings for ransom and continuing peace talks, it was announced this Sunday.
The peace dialogue table between the Colombian government and the ELN will move to Cuba in early 2024, and the fifth cycle will end in Mexico City, where “solid” progress towards peace will be a commitment by the guerrillas to stop kidnapping for economic purposes.
“Today [este domingo] Now it’s my turn and I’m proud and honored to bring good news to Colombia. After critical moments in this process, we are firmly moving towards peace,” Vera Grabe, the new chief negotiator of the Colombian government with the ELN guerrillas, said at the closing ceremony of the new round of negotiations, citing the Efe news agency.
