Tel Aviv blames Iran and Hezbollah for failed computer attack on hospital

This Monday, Israel blamed Iran and Hezbollah for a failed computer attack on a medical center in the northern Israeli city of Safed with the aim of “interrupting the work of the hospital.”

“Iran and Hezbollah have been identified as being behind the attempted computer attack on the Ziv Medical Center (…). The attack, orchestrated by Iran in conjunction with Hezbollah’s computer team, was intended to disrupt the hospital’s operations but ultimately failed. “, Israel’s National Informatics Authority said in a statement.

A joint investigation by the department, the army and the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) revealed that an Iranian intelligence computer team, with the participation of the computer unit of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, attempted to organize a computer attack against Ziv Hospital about three weeks ago.

“The attack was foiled before it could disrupt hospital operations and affect medical services for citizens,” Israeli authorities said.

However, the attackers managed to steal confidential data stored in the hospital’s systems, which they began to publish on the Internet, but in collaboration with the State Prosecutor’s Office, the channels containing confidential data were quickly deleted.

“Despite the attackers’ attempt to obtain data from the hospital, the rapid intervention prevented any damage to the functioning of the hospital and possible humanitarian impact on citizens,” Israeli authorities noted.

Israel is currently fighting a war in the Gaza Strip against the Islamist group Hamas, a Palestinian movement linked to Iran, Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, which carried out an attack on Israeli soil on October 7 that killed 1,200 people and abducted another 240. .

Over the past two months, the Lebanese movement has also launched attacks against Israel.

According to authorities in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, bombings and Israeli operations in the enclave have already killed about 19,000 people, including 8,000 children.
