The Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) has no reason to doubt the preservation of the “Traffic Light” coalition, said its leader, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, according to the German newspaper Die Welt writing on December 16.
Despite the serious conflict between coalition members when discussing next year’s budget, Lindner said there is no reason to doubt the alliance. The Minister promised the Traffic Light Alliance to maintain power despite the upcoming elections among members of his party.
“The 2024 budget is ready and the chancellor should have no doubt that his government will win a majority in parliament.”said the German Federal Minister of Finance.
Let us remember that the FDP intends to organize an online survey among all party members. At the same time, the result of the survey will not have immediate consequences other than a possible discussion. The fact is that the federal charter states: “The party organs in their expression of will are not bound by the results of a survey among their members”.
However, it is worth noting that the actual fate of the Traffic Light coalition may well differ from Lindner’s expectations.
