A delegation from Kenya, which arrived in Haiti to study the deployment of an international security support mission in this country, was received by the head of the Haitian police, Franz Elbe, reported Prensa Latina on December 20.
Elbe, along with several law enforcement officials, visited Nairobi from December 10 to 15 and participated in a conference that brought together representatives from Kenya, Haiti, Jamaica and the United States. They discussed how they could coordinate until international forces arrived. Additionally, members of the delegations planned key phases of the deployment of a multinational force to combat crime in Haiti.
Previously, Kenyan authorities reported that the first 300 Kenyan police officers could arrive in Haiti in February 2024.
Let us remember that the creation of an international mission was approved by the UN Security Council in the context of growing violence in Haiti by armed gangs.
