A 24-year-old Czech student killed his father and 14 classmates at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic this Thursday. According to the report, 25 people were injured as a result of the attack on the university, ten of whom are in serious condition. Reuters. Authorities believe the shooter committed suicide, but have not ruled out the possibility that he was killed in a shootout with police. This is the worst mass shooting in the country’s history.
The gunman is also suspected of killing another man and his two-month-old daughter, who were found dead last week in a forest in a village on the outskirts of Prague, city police chief Martin Vondraszek said, according to a police report. Reuters.
Authorities discovered a large arsenal of weapons in the Charles University building in central Prague and were warned earlier in the day that a young man was heading to Prague with the intention of committing suicide. Shortly thereafter, the shooter’s father was found dead.
Police evacuated the Faculty of Arts building, where the shooter was attending a lecture, but were later called to the main college building. They arrived at the scene of the shooting a few minutes after the attack.
Some students hung out of the university window in an attempt to escape the gunfire. The young woman fell.
