A 73-year-old Israeli-American kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 has died in captivity, the newspaper reported this Friday. Haaretz.
Gadi Haggai’s death was reported by Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he lived with his wife Judy, who was also captured by the Islamic group and remains in captivity. The couple was kidnapped while walking.
That same day, Judy managed to call a member of the kibbutz and report that they had both been shot. Since then they have not shown any signs of life.
The couple had four children and seven grandchildren. Gadi worked as a cook in the canteen of Kibbutz Nir Oz, and Judy taught English. They have lived on the kibbutz since 1994.
Israel began intensive strikes and airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on October 7, when Hamas militants left the Gaza Strip and attacked Israeli villages and military posts, killing about 1,400 people and taking 240 hostages.
Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip has already killed more than 8,500 people, according to the Hamas government.
