Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the target of insults this Monday during a speech in parliament from the families of hostages detained in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war against Hamas 80 days ago.
The families of the hostages shouted “Now, now!” at several points in the speech, with the prime minister saying Israeli forces needed “more time” to guarantee their release while continuing their operations in the Palestinian territory, where 156 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the start of the war’s ground operations.
A week-long ceasefire that ended on December 1 allowed for the release of 105 hostages, 80 of them in exchange for 240 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. However, 129 hostages still remain in the Gaza Strip.
