A farmer from a small town in the American state of Alabama, USA, helped pay some of the bills that the most disadvantaged members of the community had to pay at the pharmacy.
Relatives of Hody Childress learned about the generous attitude of the man only after his death, at the age of 80, on January 1. This was announced by the city pharmacist during the funeral ceremony.

Unfortunately, this happens often,” said the pharmacist. Washington Post. “Then he handed me a $100 (€92) bill.”
The woman said that Childress repeated this action every month for years, until last year he became too weak due to a lung disease that prevented him from traveling to the site.
This was reported by the daughter of Childress. Washington Post who did not know that her father offered money every month to help pay the bills of the most needy in a small town of about 900 people. Although she doesn’t know the real reason behind her father’s attitude, Childress’ daughter believes it is because her mother – Childress’s wife – suffered from multiple sclerosis and accumulated several medical bills, given the high price of medicines. The woman eventually passed away in 1999, and Childress’ act of generosity began in 2012.
The daughter also said that a woman recently told her that her father’s money allowed her to pay for an EpiPen (adrenaline pen, for treatment allergic reactions) for your child. The second woman told him that she cried when the pharmacist told her that there was a fund that would help her pay for her daughter’s medicines.
The pharmacist also told the family that Childress made a request to her when she first handed over the money: “Don’t tell anyone where the money came from. If they ask, just say it’s a blessing from the Lord.”
“I kept my word and didn’t tell anyone, not even my family. [Childress] He gave me money several times, just to help people who were struggling,” the pharmacist said.
