New Year’s Eve is set to see a wave of weddings in Las Vegas, with a new record expected for the number of couples “tying the knot” in the North American city due to the special nature of the date.
According to the Las Vegas Review, the date December 31, 2023 (12/31/23) is known in the mainstream Las Vegas wedding industry as “special” due to its repeating 1-2-3 1-2-3 pattern. -Magazine.
“Whenever these special dates happen, they are very popular. But combining them with New Year’s Eve is inappropriate, said Melody Willis-Williams, president of Vegas Weddings, a company with several locations.
The number to beat on New Year’s Eve is 4,492 – the record for a one-day wedding in Las Vegas was set on July 7, 2007. The second most popular special wedding date recorded at the county marriage bureau is November 11, 2011, with 3,125 people getting married.
Since 2018, between 450 and 550 couples have gotten married on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas, the Review-Journal reports. However, this year many wedding companies have no vacancies by midnight on the 31st.
Melody Willis-Williams said her company alone expects to marry more than 120 couples on New Year’s Eve. Five of these couples get married as the clock counts down to midnight.
Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya said couples who tied the knot in Las Vegas described the event as “magical encounters” that were easy to remember.
“I think a holiday that has a group dynamic is really appealing,” Goya said. “When everyone is in line and everyone is getting married and enjoying love, it just enhances your own experience.”
