An autopsy on a seven-year-old boy who died after being hospitalized for food poisoning in Coimbra did not reveal a cause of heart failure.
Initially, when the investigation began to establish the causes of the poisoning, the meat that the family consumed during meals was taken for analysis.
However, the hypothesis that the poisoning was caused by eating the meat was rejected after it was analyzed and nothing was found.
The boy’s mother died this Monday, two weeks after he was admitted to the Hospital and University Center of Coimbra.
According to a hospital source, the 48-year-old woman was hospitalized. in critical condition, with a “very guarded clinical prognosis.”
Forensic police are involved in the trial to determine whether there could have been a negligent situation external to the family that could explain the death.
