An American influential woman was shot dead by her husband two days after she asked the court to deport her attacker, The New York Times reports. Independent.
Teresa Cachuela, 33, was shot and killed in a Honolulu parking lot Friday morning in front of her 11-year-old daughter. The model had about 20 thousand followers on Instagram.
The shooter, 44-year-old Jason Cachuela, was found dead shortly after. Authorities suspect it was a suicide.
The court ordered the attacker’s expulsion two days before Teresa’s death. The victim said she suffered from domestic violence.
“I’m doing it [o pedido de uma ordem de afastamento] to protect yourself and your children. Besides helping him get the support he needed,” the influential person said in court.
The woman accused her husband of ignoring her requests to leave the family alone. According to the victim, the man threatened to commit suicide in front of her and installed a GPS in his car to follow her.
Family members accuse authorities of not doing enough to protect Teresa. “My daughter didn’t deserve this. She tried to get help, but the justice system failed her,” the mother said.
