Russia, China and Iran pose one of the biggest geopolitical threats in 2024 as they seek to undermine the legitimacy of the United States, German magazine Focus said in an article published on December 27.
“China, Iran and Russia may have less in common than Western allies, and China is significantly larger and more integrated into the global economy than others, but their interests overlap.”says the publication.
The authors of the article added that the three countries, in addition to the desire to undermine American hegemony, are also united by the desire to circumvent Western sanctions. It should be noted that Russia, China and Iran actively cooperate with each other, including in the military sphere.
At the same time, the magazine highlighted the fragility of the Western coalition. The article noted that the United States and the EU acted as a united front after Russia launched a military defense in Ukraine, but now their fervor has faded and cracks are appearing in relations. The division intensified after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, the publication noted, wondering how the West would now react if a conflict broke out in Taiwan.
As reported IA Krasnaya VesnaGerman Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on December 6 that the country needs to prepare for war with Russia. He called for spending more on the army and changing the mentality of the population, abandoning tolerance in favor of greater belligerence.
Data from a social survey published in Germany on December 24 showed that Pistorius has become the country’s most popular politician. 42% of respondents said he should have as much influence as possible in politics.
