The Angolan President, in his end-of-year address to the nation this Friday, highlighted the government’s efforts to mitigate still-existing inequalities and programs to diversify the economy and increase domestic production of goods and services.
“Through programs to develop agricultural and fisheries production, we aim to increase the supply of food products for mass consumption, which is the only way to reduce their prices,” said João Lourenço, stressing that the government continues to invest heavily in social investment.
According to the Angolan President, the executive branch has built a large number of hospital facilities of various categories, school infrastructure for different levels of education, and the training and recruitment of health and education professionals.
“We are also increasing the supply of energy and drinking water to our people and industries, and improving and expanding our national road and rail network. In addition to public investment in the construction of so-called central facilities, we are promoting policies aimed at promoting self-construction aimed at ensuring a better quality of life for Angolan citizens,” he emphasized.
The Angolan head of state acknowledged that the state remains a major employer, especially in the health, education and teaching sectors, but with the diversification of the economy, the country has a major employer partner – the private business sector, as well as self-employment as a result of vocational technical training for youth.
João Lourenço reaffirmed to the “great Angolan family” his commitment to peace and national reconciliation, which are fundamental conditions for the economic and social development and prosperity of Angola.
“My sincere wishes for good health, peace and harmony in every home and hope for a new year with renewed faith in a better future for all Angolans,” he wished.
In the coming new year, João Lourenco expressed solidarity with all the people of the world who are victims of hunger and poverty, disease, racial prejudice, natural disasters caused by climate change, but above all victims of wars and armed conflicts in the world. .
The Angolan President expressed hope that 2024 will bring final peace to the territories and peoples of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mozambique, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine and Israel.
