The detainee was accompanied to the military base by a small group of supporters.
“Violence cannot solve this situation. There is no military solution to a political problem. I refuse to join an army that thinks the real problem can be ignored.”
Refusal to join the army is punishable by imprisonment in Israel. People who do not want to join the IDF can do so if they provide a medical justification.
Mitnick said the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, which killed more than 1,200 people and took 240 hostages, was an “incomparable trauma.”
The young man condemns the “indiscriminate bombing of civilians.” The Israeli stressed that he had already expressed his opinion against the army at the beginning of the war, but as the conflict progressed he became increasingly confident.
