One person died this Saturday afternoon in a building fire in São João da Madeira.
The same fire resulted in three minor injuries from smoke inhalation, two of them children. They live in an apartment above the house that caught fire and were taken to the San Sebastian hospital in Santa Maria da Feira.
The alarm was raised at around 4.30pm due to a fire in an apartment on the third floor of the building on Rua da Mamoinha.
Firefighters from São João da Madeira were mobilized.
A source at the São João da Madeira fire department told Lusa that upon arrival at the scene, “the body was already charred,” adding only that it was an adult whose gender had not yet been determined.
The local PSP and judicial police were called.
