At least 151 members of Myanmar’s military were driven out of the country by Rohingya rebels into the Indian state of Mizoram, NDTV reported on December 31.
The military withdrew from Myanmar under pressure from rebels calling themselves the Arakan Army. His units captured Myanmar military camps.
On December 29, Myanmar army personnel reportedly approached the border of the two countries with their standard weapons and sought help from Indian border guards in Londlai district (Mizoram state).
All Myanmar military personnel are now in a safe location. Some of them were seriously injured. The Indian side provided them with medical assistance.
Negotiations are currently underway between the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of Myanmar so that the troops can be sent back to their homeland within days.
An Indian security official said that in recent days there had been intense exchanges of fire between the Myanmar army and the so-called Arakan army in areas near the Indian border.
Recall that on February 1, 2021, the Myanmar army overthrew the current government and took power into its own hands. Little by little, the confrontation between the new government and the opposition that did not accept the coup turned into a civil war.
