Former Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis, the 2018 and 2019 world time trial champion, was arrested this Sunday on suspicion of the fatal hit-and-run of his wife Melissa Hoskins in Adelaide, several national media reported.
Authorities detained the former athlete on Saturday after the crash, and the athlete, who represented Visma-Lease a Bike and announced his retirement in 2023, was charged with “homicide by reckless driving and endangering human life.”
Melissa Hoskins, 32, who was also a cyclist who competed at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, was hit by a car in front of her home and was taken to hospital but died.
Rohan Dennis, 33, was given a conditional discharge and will appear in court on March 13 to answer the facts.
Rohan Dennis and Melissa Hoskins married in 2018 and have two children together.
