A 46-year-old woman was killed and two four-year-old twin boys were injured when the car they were traveling in north-south on the A1 motorway crashed two kilometers from the Sure exit in the Coimbra region.
Upon arrival of the media, the driver of the vehicle was unconscious. Unsuccessful resuscitation efforts were performed and INEM pronounced him dead at the scene.
The children were treated at the scene and taken to the Coimbra Children’s Hospital. One of them is in serious condition.
The alarm came at 15:15.
The car climbed over the side protective partition and the protection limiting the safety zone.
More than 20 first responders from the Sure Fire Service, the Portuguese Red Cross, INEM and GNR were mobilized.
The circulation was limited.
The family living in Alvor moved to the south of the country.
