Two people were seriously injured after a group of 15 to 20 people punched and kicked them early Monday outside a nightspot in the city of Leiria, said the PSP, which is trying to identify the attackers.
In a statement, the Leiria PSP district command said that two people leaving a nightspot in the city center were physically attacked by a group of 15-20 people who fled.
During the attacks, which took place at 5:55 a.m. in Leiria’s Rotonda do Sinaleiro, “about three gunshots were heard, with police rushing to the scene seizing two 7.65mm shell casings,” PSP added .
According to security forces, the attackers were rescued at the scene by the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and showed no signs of injury and were taken to a hospital in Coimbra, where they are still receiving treatment.
“After the terrorist attacks were completed, all the suspects fled in an unknown direction,” the statement said.
The PSP adds that it is promoting “urgent” police action to fully investigate the facts and identify those responsible.
