Consumer confidence and economic climate indicators rose in December, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) said on Tuesday.
A gauge of consumer confidence rose in December after “declining in the previous four months,” according to business and consumer surveys released Tuesday.
INE explains that this indicator is the result of several components (expectations of the future development of the economic situation in the country and the financial situation of the household; opinions about the past evolution of the household’s financial situation; prospects for the future evolution of making important purchases by part of the family).
The economic climate indicator also increased in December, as it did in November, after declining in September and October.
The balance of entrepreneurs’ expectations regarding the future dynamics of sales prices increased in December in all sectors after declining in the last two months in manufacturing, trade, construction and public works.
