Monica Silva has been missing for exactly three months, and nothing is known about her whereabouts. The SP believes the 33-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant when she disappeared from Murtosa, was killed on the day she was last seen, October 3. And on November 15, Fernando Valente, a local businessman who would become the child’s father, was arrested for qualified murder, desecration of a corpse and aggravated abortion.
Monica went to see him that evening to show him the results of the pregnancy ultrasound. Monica’s family, who has two children aged 11 and 14, shares the same belief – Fernando killed her – and despair over her lack of development and body.
There was a lot of evidence. One of the latest is a message received early in the morning on October 4th. It was sent via the social network Facebook from Monica’s phone to the man to whom she owed money: “Don’t threaten me anymore, I’ll pay you what I owe.” The SP rejected it as there were no threatening messages in the communication history. “I was surprised, I did not understand the content of the message. I never sent any threats, and Monica Silva never wrote anything like that,” said the man, who wished to remain anonymous. “I was uncomfortable with this situation and immediately provided my cell phone to PJ so they could check whatever they wanted.”
PJ and Monica’s family had already searched several places for the body.
