Argentine security forces have arrested three men of Syrian origin on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks in the South American country, although the possible targets of the cell, whose members held Venezuelan and Colombian passports, have not been disclosed.
Authorities discovered the entry into the country of three suspects who had at least one meeting in Buenos Aires, which led to an operation carried out by the Federal Police and the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Unit, in which the National Directorate of Criminal Intelligence (DINIC) and the Airport Security Police ( PSA) also cooperated, according to the Argentine Ministry of Security.
Investigators are currently examining the contents of communications materials seized from all suspects to determine, among other things, the true intentions of these individuals.
In October 2023, Argentine authorities already detained an Iraqi citizen with a false passport in front of the Israeli embassy.
