A 64-year-old man died this Sunday morning after accidentally shooting himself with a hunting weapon in the town of Saldonha, Alfandega da Fe.
According to Alfandega da Fe firefighters, the victim, who was accompanied by three friends, was removing a pistol from a case inside the car to go hunting when it accidentally went off, fatally wounding him.
The accident occurred inside a car in a hunting field.
They said after death was confirmed at the scene, the body of the victim from Póvoa de Lañoso in the Braga region was taken to the Mirandela morgue.
The accident, reported at 7:24 a.m., occurred on a hunting ground in the parish of Saldonha, in Alfandega da Fe.
Four firefighters, accompanied by two vehicles, as well as members of the PNR and the Judicial Police (JP) were at the scene.
