One person was killed and 17 others were injured this Monday in a stabbing and hit-and-run in Ra’anana, in central Israel, reports Times of Israel.
A woman in her 70s died and was taken to hospital but did not survive.
Two men, aged 25 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the attack. These are two Palestinians from the West Bank who worked illegally in Israel and who have already been cited by the authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect stabbed the driver of the vehicle and then stole his car, in which he hit three people.
He then abandoned the car he was driving and stole another car, which he used to hit at least another group of people.
A 34-year-old man and a 16-year-old young man are in serious condition. At least seven children were also among the victims.
Emergency services also treated 17 other people at the scene, some of whom suffered panic attacks.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The site is searched to identify potential additional threats.
