Hamas announced this Monday the death of a hostage, Portuguese citizen Yossi Sharabi, reports Jerusalem Post.
Yossi Sharabi, 53, appeared in a video released this Sunday by an Islamist hostage group asking the Israeli government to end attacks in the Gaza Strip.
A new video was posted this afternoon. In the recording, a young woman, also a Hamas hostage, clearly under pressure, states that two men, including Yossi Sharabi, were killed in Israeli bombings.
Israel denies the accusations: “We do not attack a site if we know there may be hostages inside,” said military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.
The video does not indicate the date the images were taken.
For what CM As it turned out, Sharabi was the son of a Moroccan named Turgerman. Members of this family came to Portugal from Morocco and Gibraltar in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Israeli embassy in Portugal told Lusa that Sharabi’s wife, Nari, was in Lisbon last month asking the government for help in his release.
