“Our hearts are broken. Tonight, the Israeli authorities officially announced that Yossi Sharabi was killed in captivity,” the diplomat wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“Yossi, who also had Portuguese citizenship, was kidnapped in the Gaza Strip on October 7 while he was still alive and killed during captivity by Hamas terrorists,” he added.
Dor Shapira also emphasizes that he “had the honor of getting to know the character of 53-year-old Yossi through his wife, who visited Portugal last month, considering him “a man with a kind heart.”
Hamas already announced on Monday the death of Yossi Sharabi, who appeared in a propaganda video published on Sunday by the Islamist movement on the Telegram network asking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
