The Houthis, a rebel movement that controls much of Yemen including the capital Sanaa, were honored Wednesday to be designated a terrorist group by the United States and vowed to continue supporting Palestine in the war against Israel.
“The US designation has no value and will not change Yemen’s pro-Palestine stance. On the contrary, we consider it a badge of honor for supporting the Palestinian resistance in Gaza while the US carries out its aggression against Yemen,” a rebel spokesman said. Mohamed Abdelsalam on the movement’s official account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Abdelsalam stressed that the “arrogant policies” of the United States and “support for the criminal Zionist entity,” referring to Israel, are “the real sponsors of terrorism.”
